THERAPEUTIC STRATEGIES AGAINST SULPHUR MUSTARD INDUCED TOXICITY: AN UPDATE

Pankaj Verma, Pushpendra Kannojia, Suman jain, R. Vijayaraghavan

Despite 90 years of research, there is still no antidote for sulphur mustard (SM). As the mode of its action is still lacking, no specific treatment is so far known against SM induced systemic toxicity. This fact is especially crucial when we consider that probably at least a dozen countries have SM in their arsenals today. Development of an effective prophylactic or therapeutic antidote is an immediate requirement for the destruction of SM. This review will focus on the therapeutic strategies investigated, and novel therapeutic targets currently under investigation for transition to advanced development.

FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF IN SITU NASAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM OF POORLY WATER SOLUBLE DRUGS UTILIZING MIXED SOLVENCY CONCEPT

Shivank Hazari, M. K. Gupta, Ankit Agrawal, Neetesh Kumar Jain, Ankita Dubey

The goal of all sophisticated drug delivery systems is to deploy medications to specifically targeted parts of the body through a medium that can control the therapy’s administration by means of either a physiological or chemical trigger.
The bioavailability of a drug and hence its therapeutic effectiveness are often influenced by the route selected for administration. For a medication to achieve its maximal efficacy a drug should be able to get administered easily so that better patient compliance can be achieved; and it should be capable of being absorbed efficiently so that better bioavailability can be accomplished. Release studies were performed in saturated solutions of various solubilizers and permeability coefficients were calculated. Higher permeability coefficients were obtained from mixed solubilizers as compared to individual solubilizers. From all the mixed solubilizers studied, highest permeability was exhibited by PEG 6007.5 + PEG 4007.5 + Propylene Glycol7.5 + PVP K307.5 i.e. 1.522 x 10-02 cm/hr.

FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF MICROEMULSION GEL OF KETOCONAZOLE AS AN ANTIFUNGAL AGENT

Heeramani Urmaliya, M. K. Gupta, Ankit Agrawal, Neetesh Kumar Jain, Ankita Dubey

The aim of this investigation was to design and develop Microemulsion based gel (MBG) formulation of Ketoconazole for enhancing its solubility & permeability. Topical Permeability of Ketoconazole is very low. For this purpose, initially, solubility & permeability of Ketoconazole was determined in various vehicles. MBG was prepared with Capmul MCM NF as oil, Acrysol K150 as surfactant and Propylene Glycol as co-surfactant after preliminary screening of excipients. Carbopol 971 as gelling agent. The system was optimized by ternary phase diagram. The prepared formulations were characterized for Drug content, % Transmittance, Visual assessment, Particle size, Zeta potential and Compare In-vitro diffusion study of prepared MBG with Marketed formulation, Skin irritation study. The optimized batch contains mean particle size of 28.57nm and zeta potential (?) -8.25mV and viscosity study and Spreadability also in vitro diffusion/permeation study. In vitro diffusion study of optimized (MBG) formulation (F3) carried out which gives 78.95% within minute. And marketed formulation gives within 40minutes.Hence, by formulating into MBG, the solubility of Ketoconazole was found to be significantly enhanced.

CONCEPTUAL STUDY OF PERSONALITIES BASED ON TRIGUNAS

Rajeev Mishra, Suchi Dubey Mishra, Subodh Dubey

Aim & object of this literary paper is to study the personalities on the basis of trigunas & its role in Rogi Pareksha & treatment.Ist literary study was performed and similar kind of description was found in spiritual and philosophical references [ Ramcharit Manas & Gyaneshwari Sudha ]The attempt was done for the comparative study in Trividh Personalities taking 30 characteristics in consideration. Study of these personalities on this basis can be used in Trividh Rogi Pariksha in brief. This study was found closed to the truth in relation to the characters mentioned in spiritual references. From this conceptual study we have concluded that -Trigunas are the ultimate factors of Primodial matter. (Prakriti) Just as three Dosha determine body type three gunas of mind regulate a person's character, conviction & perception. Sharir and Mann are interrelated and affect each other.Pravarsatva persons are - Sattva Guna Pradhan Sattva Saara Purush Madhya Sattva Persons are - Rajas Guna Pradhan, Heena Sattva Persons are -Tamas Guna Pradhan. Tamas and Rajas Guna Pradhan personality can grow and develop to the level of Sattva Guna Pradhanta i.e. sattviki by adopting Ayurvedic life style and maintaining mental health.
